Commenced PhD in Biotechnology at the Genome Engineering Laboratory, University of Westminster in October 2022, focused on cancer research: specifically breast cancer and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing. Completed studies at the University of Westminster in June 2022, graduated with a 1st in B.Sc. Biological Sciences. Interests include: gene editing (CRISPR/Cas9), genomics, bioinformatics (with R), obesity & diabetes, medical genetics, global warming and the environment, ocean remediation with autonomous robots. I am fascinated by the journey from a single fertilised egg to a 2.6 trillion celled baby, and especially what can go wrong genetically during that nine month process, hence my interest in medical genetics and developmental biology. Chibuike Alagboso

Biography
Chibuike Alagboso is a Nigerian health journalist and health communication professional whose work focuses on the intersection of health systems, public policy, and evidence-based reporting. He currently serves as Director of Media Programmes at Nigeria Health Watch, where he leads editorial and communication initiatives aimed at strengthening public understanding of health and science issues and improving accountability in health systems. Over the past decade, his reporting and editorial work have examined topics such as primary healthcare, epidemic preparedness, antimicrobial resistance, maternal and child health, and health financing. His work often applies a solutions-focused journalism approach to investigate how health systems respond to complex challenges and to highlight evidence-informed responses that can improve health outcomes. Chibuike has also played a leading role in strengthening science and health reporting capacity across Africa through the Solutions Journalism Africa Initiative, where he has trained and mentored journalists across multiple countries. His work bridges journalism, science communication, and policy engagement, translating complex scientific and public health issues into accessible narratives that inform public debate and policymaking. He is particularly interested in how emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and data-driven tools, are reshaping science journalism and public communication about health. Chibuike is a 2020 Journalist in Residence fellow of the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp.
