Summer School

10:00-17:00, Tuesday March 12, 2019

The Conservatory, Duke Studios, No 3 Sheaf St, LEEDS, LS10 1HD

Cost: £100 inc VAT for ABSW members (you can join to attend - just complete the registration form for this course and pay for your membership and training course in all in one payment, then complete our membership application form).

Your trainer will be ABSW member Richard Hollingham, who ran the very successful podcast training course for the ABSW in London last year.

Here are details of what the training includes:

This is a practical introductory hands-on course that works especially well with print journalists who want to expand their written skills into audio and broadcast journalism. Equipment (Zoom H2Ns) will be provided on the day although participants may want to bring laptops loaded with editing software (we will recommend free software to download before the course) or their own recorders. During the course, participants will make a series of recordings of increasing complexity. By the end of the day, trainees will know how to produce, edit and upload a simple professional sounding podcast for public consumption.

The course will include:
• Examples of podcasts, content and pre-production
• Structure and scripting
• Technical requirements, recording and microphone techniques
• Presentation advice
• Basic editing techniques and software options
• Discussion of upload, delivery and how to get people to listen
