This one-day in-person masterclass is all about the craft of opinion writing for science writers and journalists, scientists, and science communicators - working across all media. (Students - see guidance note below).

You will: 

  • Learn the essentials of opinion writing.
  • Get advice from commissioning editors and writers of comment articles at high quality publications.
  • Know how to pitch to editors of newspapers and magazines.

Led by ABSW Board member Ehsan Masood, Nature’s Editor for Editorials (pictured), with: 

Sara Abdulla, Formerly Senior Editor, The Washington Post and Chief Opinion Editor, Nature and John Whitfield, Comment Editor Research Professional News and author of Lost Animals, the story of extinct, endangered and rediscovered species.
