Among many, there is frustration with how political correspondents are covering the pandemic, rather than expert science correspondents. With Covid-19 bringing science to society in a way that has rarely been seen before, is expert science journalism being neglected? Or are political and science journalists working together well in tough times?

This lively and informative 60-minute panel discussion was moderated by Ian Murray, Executive Director, Society of Editors; Ian was joined by Pallab Ghosh, BBC Science Correspondent and ABSW honorary president, Fiona Fox, chief executive of the Science Media Centre, which briefs journalists on science issues, Jane Merrick, The i's policy editor, and Andrew Dagnell, Head of Newsgathering at ITV News.
