What we do for members

NEWSLETTER

The association produces a newsletter for members The Science Reporter.

For details of advertising, contact adman"at"absw.org.uk, or download the rate card. Members who want to offer stories can contact the editor at editor"at"absw.org.uk.

MAILING LISTS

Along with colleagues throughout the rest of Europe, ABSW members can join in an electronic discussion group, EUSJA-L, where the discussion ranges from professional matters through to the pursuit of places to eat when you are on the road.

Join ABSW-L for gossip of a more local nature.

BRIEFINGS

For some years the ABSW has run briefings on important topics in research. More recently, these have moved on to deal with professional issues.

AWARDS

The ABSW administers  the Glaxo Wellcome/ABSW Science Writers' Awards.

EMAIL

You can have an email address @absw.org.uk that sends your messages through the ABSW's internet service provider to your existing email account.

EVIDENCE

The ABSW has also responded to invitations to give evidence to inquiries on the communication of science. For example, the association gave evidence to Sir Arnold Wolfendale's survey of "science in public".

WEB PAGES

You never know who is browsing the web on the lookout for writers. Members can create an entry in the ABSW's on-line directory.

BOOKSHOP

Books written by members of the ABSW.
Members can add details of their latest works here.

MEMBER DETAILS

Journalists have a habit of changing jobs and moving house, so here is a form to fill in so that the ABSW can keep its records up to date.
