Job: Technology News Editor
A rare opportunity has arisen on New Scientist, the world’s science and technology superbrand. We are seeking a dynamic editor to lead the technology news team. This key role is responsible for running the technology news section in the magazine and online. The role reports to the News Editor, working closely with the wider team to deliver the overall New Scientist editorial strategy.
New Scientist magazine has more than 800,000 readers worldwide and www.NewScientist.com enjoys over 3m unique users per month. The successful candidate will be on top of the latest developments in technology and understand their social consequences and impact. They will be expected to source, write, commission and edit compelling stories about all aspects of technology to delight our audience of intellectually curious readers – scientists and non-scientists alike.
We want someone to help shape the identity of New Scientist's technology coverage, and to engage with both print and online readers. The New Scientist brand is highly innovative and new projects come along regularly. The ideal person in this role will have an innovative approach and will adapt easily to new initiatives. You should have a degree in science or technology, have proven experience in writing and editing in this field, as well as have previous experience of managing and developing a team.
